Introducing the Lotus Program for Women: Your Path to Empowerment
Welcome to the Lotus Program for Women at UBH Denton, where we’ve crafted a nurturing space exclusively for females aged 18 and older to embark on a transformative journey toward mental health and well-being. Our women-only unit is dedicated to providing inpatient treatment for psychiatric concerns, offering a range of services tailored to address mental health challenges, cope with traumatic events, treat postpartum depression and navigate issues related to grief, loss and relationships.
Tailored Wellness Strategies
Our wellness approach combines brief intervention and solution-focused therapies, carefully designed to meet the unique needs of each individual. The compassionate staff, including psychiatrists, registered nurses, social workers, occupational therapists and other mental health specialists, utilize evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, open process psychotherapy and expressive therapies like mindfulness, art, music, recreation and yoga within a supportive group setting.
Interdisciplinary Treatment Team Model
The “Interdisciplinary Treatment Team Model” at the Lotus Program for Women at UBH Denton is designed to offer comprehensive, personalized and holistic care. Here’s a detailed breakdown of each component:
- Comprehensive Psychiatric and Substance-Use Evaluation:
- Description: A thorough assessment is conducted to understand the individual’s mental health and substance-use status. This evaluation forms the basis for creating a tailored treatment plan.
- Individual Therapy Sessions:
- Description: One-on-one therapy sessions with experienced therapists or psychiatrists provide a private space for individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences. This personalized approach allows for focused attention on specific concerns.
- Intensive Group Sessions:
- Description: Group therapy sessions involve a supportive and collaborative environment where individuals can share their experiences, learn from others and gain insights. These sessions cover various topics relevant to mental health and well-being.
- Trauma-Informed Treatment:
- Description: Trauma-informed care recognizes the widespread impact of trauma on mental health. This approach ensures that all aspects of treatment consider the potential effects of trauma, fostering a safe and validating environment.
- Collaboration with Outpatient Therapists and Primary-Care Physicians:
- Description: Communication and collaboration with existing outpatient therapists and primary-care physicians are crucial. This ensures continuity of care, with the interdisciplinary team working together to address various aspects of the individual’s well-being.
- Referral to Outpatient Providers and Additional Supports if Needed:
- Description: If additional specialized care or support is required, the team facilitates referrals to outpatient providers and other relevant resources, ensuring that individuals receive the continuum of care they need.
- Nutritional Consultation:
- Description: Nutritional consultation addresses the vital connection between mental health and nutrition. A professional provides guidance on maintaining a balanced and healthy diet, which can significantly impact overall well-being.
- Empowerment Strategies for Developing a Safe and Supportive Life Outside of the Program:
- Description: Empowerment strategies focus on equipping individuals with the skills and confidence needed to navigate life beyond the program. This includes developing coping mechanisms, setting goals, and establishing a supportive network.
- Relapse Prevention:
- Description: For individuals dealing with substance-use disorders, relapse prevention strategies are implemented. This involves identifying triggers, developing coping skills and creating a plan to maintain recovery after leaving the program.
The interdisciplinary treatment team collaborates closely to integrate these components into a cohesive and effective treatment plan, ensuring that each woman receives holistic care that addresses her unique mental health needs.
Somatic Therapy
Somatic therapy goes beyond traditional approaches—it’s a profound dance between body and soul, a journey of rediscovery and renewal. Led by our dedicated Somatic Therapist, Katie Russell, this therapy honors the whispers of the body and unlocks the wisdom within. Through gentle movement, breathwork, and mindful awareness, women are invited to reconnect with their bodies’ language, listening to the stories etched in their bones, and reclaiming the dormant power within.
