What to Bring – Adult Unit

While a patient in on the mental health unit for adults, certain items will be restricted to promote a safe environment for all.*

Patients need to wear appropriate attire, which includes regular street clothes with shoes or socks.  It is requested that patients dress modestly.  Patients are required to wear shirts and appropriate undergarments.  Patients are asked to wear robes when in sleeping garments.  No clothing with holes or excessive tight or loose clothing will be permitted.  Tank tops, sleeveless shirts, halter tops, midriff shirts, short skirts, sexually suggestive clothing or any items advertising any addictive product or activities are prohibited.  Clothing / jewelry suggesting drug use or demonic religious preference is also not allowed.

Hygiene Items (May not have Alcohol in 1st 3 contents) will be placed in a hygiene bin and kept secured until patient hygiene times.  The following items may be kept in the hygiene bin:

Jewelry : Will be reviewed by staff, for safety purposes.  If a patient decides to keep jewelry, they must sign waiver.

 **Due to the Military Program’s length of stay, additional items will be individually reviewed and considered by management.

Inpatient Belongings List

Instructed Patient Items to Bring:

  • Day clothing- recommended 3 days (7-10 days for Trauma and Military) of clothing due to limited storage. (Washer/dryer available at no charge)
  • Shoes (recommend slip-on shoes, no shoe strings are allowed on the unit).
  • Personal hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, shower shoes, deodorant, and female sanitary items). These items cannot include alcohol based products or aerosols.
  • Warm pajamas (must be appropriate)
  • Clothing that is modest and climate appropriate (i.e.: Jacket or sweater with no hoods)
  • Tobacco products-sealed/unopened (adult only, only during designated breaks as determined by unit rules)
  • Home medications (will be stored in pharmacy)
  • Recommended athletic shoes with Velcro for gym activities

**Patients will not have access to an ATM machine or internet during their stay.**

All valuables should be left/sent home and not retained at UBH. Individuals are fully responsible for personal items.  Items that must be stored in facility lock up will NOT be accessible throughout the length of stay. 

**Please be aware that patients are here for different reasons. Some patients may have additional restrictions. We ask that you do not lend or give out any of your personal possessions**
